Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations protect the health of your pets and the community! We tailor our vaccines to your pet’s specific needs and lifestyle, safeguarding them against common diseases and ensuring a longer, healthier life for all pets.

Vaccinations: Healthy Pets, Healthy Community

Young animals are just like kids—and keeping your precious fur babies safe and happy is what we’re all about! Pet vaccinations are a relatively inexpensive but essential way to protect your beloved companion’s health, and we’re here to make the process as stress-free as possible for both of you.

Pet vaccinations do so much more than prevent life-threatening illnesses—they also protect against diseases common in wildlife and those that can be passed to humans. It’s especially important to vaccinate puppies and kittens because their developing immune systems need extra protection to grow into healthy, happy adult pets.

By vaccinating your furry friend, you’re also contributing to the health of our San Antonio community by helping to control and eliminate contagious diseases. Our team at NDS Animal Hospital creates personalized vaccination schedules tailored to your pet’s specific needs, ensuring optimal protection throughout their lifetime.

Vaccinations Customized for Your Pet & Your Life

Which vaccines should your pet have? Core vaccines are those recommended—and sometimes required by law—for most of our four-legged family members.

Core vaccines include:

  • Rabies (dogs and cats)
  • Bordetella (dogs)
  • Leptospirosis (dogs)
  • DA2PPV – Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus 2, Parvo, and Parainfluenza (dogs)
  • FVRCP – Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (cats)

We recommend the canine influenza vaccine for social pups who love dog parks, boarding kennels, or any other place where they can make new furry friends. Depending on your dog’s lifestyle and risk of exposure, we may also suggest rattlesnake and Lyme vaccines. If you have a cat that goes outdoors, the FeLV vaccine may be recommended to keep them healthy.

But even pets who prefer the cozy indoor life should stay current on vaccinations, as they can still encounter diseases through windows, visiting pets, or even on your clothing. Keeping your beloved companion’s vaccines up to date creates a healthier, safer environment for your entire family.

Your caring NDS Animal Hospital veterinarian will recommend the perfect vaccination plan based on your pet’s age, health, and unique lifestyle. Ready to keep your furry friend protected? Call our team today.
