Diagnostics

We provide advanced diagnostics & rapid results — because they can’t talk! We utilize the latest imaging technologies to assess your pet’s health accurately.

Advanced Diagnostics, Comprehensive Care

Early detection is absolutely key when it comes to treating your beloved furry friend, and NDS Animal Hospital is proud to offer advanced in-house pet diagnostics and imaging right here in our San Antonio clinic. This saves you time and money, and most importantly, you don’t have to wait overnight for results—meaning your precious pet gets an accurate diagnosis and the treatment they need much sooner.

Our caring team understands how worried you can feel when your furry companion isn’t feeling their best, which is why we’ve invested in state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to give you answers as quickly as possible.

Digital Radiology (X-Rays)

At NDS Animal Hospital, we use advanced digital imaging technologies to guarantee the highest quality of care for all our four-legged family members.

Radiographs, or X-rays, use electromagnetic radiation directed toward your pet’s body to highlight internal structures and reveal what’s happening beneath the surface. These valuable images can detect abnormalities including skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage, foreign bodies that your pet may have swallowed, and dental disease that could be causing discomfort.

Ultrasound Technology

Ultrasound is a powerful, non-invasive diagnostic tool that creates real-time images of your pet’s internal body. This detailed composite reveals important information about internal processes, including the circulatory, skeletal, and gastrointestinal systems—helping us understand exactly what’s going on with your sweet companion.

When used alongside other diagnostic tools like X-rays, ultrasounds help our skilled veterinarians identify diseases, blockages, skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage, and other internal injuries that might be affecting your pet’s health.

An ultrasound works by broadcasting high-frequency sound waves that gently reflect off your pet’s internal structures. A small probe held against their skin collects the returning signals to create detailed images of internal organs. We commonly use ultrasound to examine abdominal organs like the stomach, kidneys, liver, spleen, and gallbladder. When we perform an ultrasound of the heart (called an echocardiogram), it provides precise information about heart valves, blood flow, chamber size, and contractions.

While our in-house diagnostic center allows us to perform many ultrasound procedures right here at NDS, we’re proud to partner with SonoVet, a trusted mobile ultrasound consultation service serving veterinarians throughout Central Texas. The SonoVet team brings advanced diagnostic ultrasound capabilities directly to our hospital, providing real-time expertise and detailed imaging that support the most accurate diagnoses possible.
